Rock

by Thomas   Sep 14, 2012

It's hard to get me
Difficult to follow me
Impossible to understand me
Matter of fact
I don't think I even do
But like many events
the cause has to be found in history
Back when I was underdeveloped,
still a baby waiting for his growth spurt
My emotions didn't keep up with my body
It's just me, I'm sorry
I'm a rock but so very porous
I feel it all
sadness, love and anger
Forgive me my darling
for it's compensation for the past
when I felt nothing at all

This is intriguing I feel as if you're apologizing for your lack of emotion towards certain issues perhaps? Then reassuring someone that although you may show a lack of emotion at times, you still feel all those emotions inside, they simply may not convey outwardly like many others emotions do. This making you seem as a rock, very hard and emotionless. Great write here, keep it up Thomas.

I adore this poem, I love the structure of it and the beginning, it is almost like a riddle where you think you will work out what it is you are describing.

During the poem I felt a lot of your pain and wondered what had happened in your life to get you to this point, it was very touching.

The part where you mentioned being underdeveloped, then your emotions catching up, this part reminded me of autism or ADHD, or some of those illnesses where the chemicals in our brain get mixed up or they are late to develop which in turn causes these problems as we mature.

Very interesting poem, I thought you done very well and I liked your title choice.

To admit that you have a troubled soul and to acknowledge the fact that you need to grow up and keep up against the worlds misfortunes
    I respect you got that
    Such a powrful statement made
