Seven Hundred ( acrostic )

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 14, 2012

Seven hundred poems written with this hand
Each one telling it's own story of my life.
Verse after verse I pour my heart out
Enabling my emotions to let go,
No longer are they trapped inside.

How time has passed and I have grown
Unaware of the skills I have learned.
Never putting my pen down
Deciding this is who I am.
Remember me for the poems I wrote
Each one reaching out to another soul,
Determined to let them know that someone understands.

Well done on writing 700 poems, if they are all as good as this then you are truly gifted.

You basic have epitomised what poetry is all about with this, getting your emotion out to share and hopefully striking a chord with somebody feeling the same.

    great job

This poem is very inspiring to me. I just started writing last year and it has also become a huge part of my life. I have never tried this form, maybe I'll try it soon. I hope you write more. Excellent poem.

Congrats baby r! 700 is a big number and means that poetry has been very time consuming for you. As a poet, we understand though how important it is to write of our lives because its just a much needed relief. I loved this acrostic! And again, yay for 700!

Quite a feat!! I have so many to read! (:

You really do pour your heart out into everything you write. I love your raw emotion, and you have told your story - laid it bare for all to see if they just take the time to read.

Enabling my emotions to let go,
No longer are they trapped inside.

Writing is a great release for emotion. Posting it on here, you also learn that you aren't alone in many situations. Which kind of helps.

How time has passed and I have grown
Unaware of the skills I have learned.

We learn so much on this site alone! And those who have posted their poetry or other literary works elsewhere would also learn so much. Then again, writing 700 poems would certainly have you learning too, and unless we look back at our earlier work, we don't realise how much we have grown.

    Never putting my pen down
Deciding this is who I am.

    THANK GOODNESS!! haha
Many can relate to these lines by themselves. (:

A beautiful ending - a call out to never forget and the reason why you write. We all should be aware of why we write something - our reasons behind it, and you have managed to work that out the reason behind why you write. Mine is, in most cases, simply to release emotions. I'm only starting to write to make people aware... Great work, Saffie!

    OVERALL;

This is such a beautiful relatable piece, and an excellent tribute to your achievement. I find that acrostics can sometimes be difficult in their limitations, but you have managed to completely bypass this in order to write a seamless piece.

I like how you have summed up your previous poems by writing this one and without too much detail so others are influenced to read them. Very well done!

And again, your emotion in this piece is just touching - I think it would be difficult to leak emotion into a piece like this, but you have done so. (:
Kind of a mix of joy and tears.

I hope you hold true to your word and:

    "Never put down your pen"

    Excellent work, Saffie! 5/5
