Faded Pictures

Faded Pictures

Black clouds race across the sky
As fears slide into view
Light no longer shines on her
The pain won’t let it through

Her world is but a distant haze
A place where she exists
Temptations to cease this endless maze
She knows she must resist

A tattered journal holds the key
To memories in her mind
But the happy memories are slowly fading
Leaving the bad behind

All she has is forgotten pictures
To keep her hope alive
These photos she treasures with all her might
For they help her to survive

Alas, these photos show distant times
Now so far away
She wishes she could turn back time
Return to yesterday

Daily torture has taken her light
For the pain that she must feel
Has made her even begin to doubt
The pictures were ever real

As she turns through the crumpled pages
Tears roll down her face
Reminiscing why her life had to be
Stuck in this painful place

Slowly she stopped as she came to the page
Where her memories fade
To smell the last scent of her happy past
Before resting in the shade
