Missing A Piece...

by Nic39uy   Sep 18, 2012

Piecing together the puzzle to our friendship
Laying out the pieces one by one
Working from the outside, constructing the border
To protect the bond that we built together

Every piece that I pick up has a story behind it
And every piece is specially crafted to tailor each other
Symbolizing all the good and the bad times
As each piece fits perfectly where they belong

With all the miscellaneous pieces assembled
All that remain were the pieces that held us
As your figure starts to materialize before my eyes
Trickling slowly down the desert was a tear

With both our figures established
Smiling with content for it portray
A picture of two friends walking side by side
Holding each other hands...

Overlooking the puzzle I fail to realize something
A missing piece that would make this puzzle complete
Frantically looking for the one piece...
It's a quintessential piece to this picture

For this would be my 16th chapel painting
Yet I've brought shame to Michelangelo name
By overlooking such a crucial part of this portrait
How could a piece so important disappear?

For our hands would never intertwined again
Because you've taken the one piece that would
Make this picture oh so perfect and
Allowing us to be friends once again...

I love what you are trying to say here.....Which is really sad...losing friendships are hard, watching them slip away is hard..Ive been there many times...

Id suggest you change your opening sentence to Piecing together, rather than piecing up..makes a little more sense.

Other than that, this poem saddens me, because the whole way through you lead this on to be a solid friendship, one you admire, but in the end it turns out to be opposite, missing the spark so to say that friendships carry.

    nice write :)

You know what saddens me ever more, the fact that it's happening to me as i type...she holds our friendship within the palm of her hands and i can't do anything to reason with her to listen to what i have to say...sigh -_-

ohh and thank you Chelsey -bows- appreciate your comment and i changed up the opening sentence as well =). i knew it sound weird as i read it but didn't quite get it, that's where other poets come in and help each other get better.
