Why does it matter, no one reads them lol

Darkness shrouds a city that once was bathed in light
sewer rats come around in the day
& come around in the night
friends of ours spend hours sharpening knives
hide your children, close your doors tight.

Cold rain falls down to blanket the land
We'd carry umbrellas if we still had hands
No time to seek comfort, & no time to nap
Run run run, we're being wiped off the map.
