Thick Skin

Thick skin is exactly what I have

Not from getting stronger

Not from living. Learning and moving on.

Long sleeves cover the deepest cuts

Many years of trying to feel only made it more difficult to feel

Not completely numb yet

As forceful as I am.

Always perceived as a strong person

Scar over scar over scar

I will continue to hurt me so I can feel

Hurt is not what I feel though

Disappointment and regret created my thick skin
