    I remember those precious moments
when we used to play in our backyard
    build castles made of sand
and sticks, holding them with our hands

    - I loved how you opened this straight with a memory and gave an idea of the young age this memory was from by the action of building castles.

We laughed at the stupidest things
    but who could judge us?
No one had the heart to make us cry
even in the rain, our smiles kept us dry

    - 2 things, I like the idea of when you are young you are not even aware of how people judge others and are so unaware of societys pressure to not be different. I think at that age we are unaware of the badness and sad facts in life.
Secondly, I loved the line "even in the rain, our smiles kept us dry" I think this is so unique, and cute, and quite comforting to read. It shows just how much fo a bond you had with this person to know that even in the rain you still had fun and smiled.

oh boy, the candies we used to eat
I'd steal some of yours behind your back
you saw me..you never yelled at me though
instead you pretended not to know

    - I had to read this twice because at first glance i thought it said candles, so i was confused to why you would be eating candles lol. Again this little act shows more about the bond you had and how deep it was.

    yes, old friend
    I remember those golden moments
Priceless, they remain in my memory
the days we thought they'll never end

    - I think we can all relate to this line, beig young and thinking things will always stay this way and we would be in touch with these friends forever. You are right on one thing though, childhood memories are very precious indeed.

Some things happen and cannot be explained
    people change, they move on
yet I know one thing deep inside my heart
we grew up, grew old, grew apart.

    - I thought this ending was worded very well because sometimes these things do happen with friendships and it is not through anything bad but purely the changes we go through in life and the different paths we travel on.
    - I think for your last line here you could seperate your list to read this way ..

yet I know one thing deep inside my heart
    we grew up, grew old
    and then we grew apart.

    - I just think for me it would give it better flow and then show that by growing older you had then grew apart.

Such a sad poem but one which was easy to relate to and brought back many memories and thoughts for me about my own "old friends"

thanks for sharing. keep up the good work.

Thank you for your comments I tried to capture some of the most memorable things that happened with my old friend without having to say too much. I was a bit confused on how to end it but it seems the change u made is way better. I would change it to this form immediately..
really glad it made you remember things from your childhood, that time of innocence and inner peace and I really appreciate your interpetation of my work.
