First Date Feelings

by Aaron   Sep 24, 2012

I'll never forget my first date with you,
a week after we met I took you into town,
didn't know you had a thing for a fine brown,
nervous as ever, I didn't know what to do,
but I was sure of the feelings that I had for you.

There was a twinkle, in your eyes,
far greater than the stars at night,
at the sight, my heart jumped out my chest
I wondered if you ever noticed-
but it was then I knew
you were more special than the rest.

Did you know how I felt when we held hands
or when I accidentally gave you a kiss?
Scared at first, but then you gave a smile
I knew this first date would be worthwhile.

Whilst we ate cake
I wanted to inquire
was I one you'd come to admire
lacking courage, I never asked
for the time being, I kept such thoughts masked.

The date felt short, and now at its end
posted outside your door, I hoped-
that you'd want me more than just a friend,
gave you my number and suggested a call,
I guess hoping and praying works after all.

Still in love now
as we were then,
seems our first date was meant to be,
hopefully when the question comes
you'll say yes to me,
I could be with you forever,
an eternity;
true love-
is what this date helped me to see.

I'd the same feeling like you have put it in these lines... "There was a twinkle, in your eyes,

far greater than the stars at night,

at the sight, my heart jumped out my chest

I wondered if you ever noticed-
but it was then I knew
you were more special than the rest.

Did you know how I felt when we held hands

or when I accidentally gave you a kiss?

Scared at first, but then you gave a smile

I knew this first date would be worthwhile."

This is cute and from the heart. You told your tale as if it was just yesterday, so real and memorable. Such first moments are never forgotten. One can move on with another person entirely different but first dates will always be in ones buried heart.

They feel like a fantasy, full of wishes, skeptic periods but sure its he or she, no doubt about that. The innocence is well delivered without any hindrance.

A well written narration, not very lyrical but a worthwhile read indefinitely. Lovely!

Okay...I am not a fan of love poems, maybe it's because I find myself missing certain people when I know I shouldn't...this reminded me of someone I'd rather forget but saying that, you told a story with your words and I like that...how transported I became to past times...

The rhymes were not always smooth and the flow maybe wasn't at it's peak throughout but still this piece was an enjoyment to read.
