All that remains

by Masked metaphor   Sep 26, 2012

Copper moonlight petals fall
Like raindrops dripping down a star covered wall.
Emotions finally released from its bottled ball,
Humming freedom through a renewed soul.

Flowerless vases stand tall and mundane,
Empty and lifeless and filled with disdain.
Memories haunt this once colourful place,
Now covered with sorrow, entwined with lace.

Her voice still echoes within every burning flame
As wax melts like tear drops down my face.
Her smile remains photographed in my broken hearts frame,
Even though I try to forget her time and time again.

I close my eyes and beyond the darkness,
video segments of our past visually digress.
Our love seemed so strong words could not express,
the pain I continue to feel when remembering such a mess.

The light that used to shine in the speck of your eyes,
still glimmers in the bright, clear sun rise.
Days have faded into years of demise.
As my heart still crumbles without you by my side.

The poisonous pain continues to dominate
leaving me helpless with definitions that can't be explained.
You left me broken, You left me ashamed,
with millions of unanswered questions that will continue to remain.

You open with a truly beautiful image, I loved what you've painted in my mind. Then I reached the second stanza and sadness began to set in. I thought the rhyme scheme was great, yet I feel like in places it was lost, the last line of the first stanza and the third stanza.

This poem speaks of common emotions after a breakup, the feeling as though you have so many questions left to be answered, the sadness, loneliness, and feeling of loss. You'll make it through though! Just takes time. Nicely done.

    Whoa, wow!
This right here is an excellent poem which has all the emotions a broken hearted poem should have within it.
I can relate in way through the pain of heartache.
You were easily able to express the powerful emotions which flowed to paper to pen so magically.
Really really good, surprised nobody has commented on this.
