Blue Serenades

by Poet on the Piano   Sep 30, 2012

Deep, night blue is longing,
expressions bearing no paint
or sculpted clay archaism.

Deep, night blue is everything
you are, a future I cannot say
is my favorite for I know what
lies ahead is living without
you.

The heart of living is in these
swans I watch pass. The pond
is a mirror that moves me, its
moon shine glancing up at me
with aches that change
how I view ending horizons.

Deep, night blue is what I
will listen to when the hospital
closes its hallways to your aria,
and you finally close the door.

Deep, night blue is the breath
I will sleep to when your organs
collapse and I cannot take any
food for I knew you never
could keep down nourishment.

Everyday the sun drops like a
mountain, but everynight I will
wait by the pond, ignorant of
traffic lights rebounding, and I will
wait to watch your memory
move me.

Swans fluttering, wings colliding,
the motion of night and wave
of dark blues will show me
there is love in saying goodbye
and never waking up
from life.

Deep, night blue is for loving
you and remembering full moons
that have creases like your
dying days.....lines etched out of
pain but promise of solitude.

Deep, night blue remembers love
and doesn't watch it fade to black.
Deep, night blue takes all words
to a far away place....

Non potro mai smettere d'amarti --
(I could never stop loving you.)

Loved the constant repetition of deep, night blue. It underlines how important it is and it gives this poem strength. Great addition with the Italian bit in the end too!
A touching write, I must say. Much enjoyed.

    " but everynight I will

Every night should have a space between it :)

I love this part of the poem the most. I feel it was really beautiful, and for some strange reason I really like the word ignorant.. especially in poetry lol. I feel like it's such a word that every person can relate to, as we deal with it ourselves or in other people. Ignorance is bliss sometimes, too, right? lol

This is really beautiful and you've created yet another poem with beautiful images that were very clear in my mind. I wasn't overly fond of the repetition with the blue part, it seemed a bit out of place to me and kind of forced even. But the rest of it was freakin' a beautiful, MA!

I was thinking of a midnight blue as I read this, often blue is associated with sadness & you worked it in so well here. Hope all is okay with you. This write is so emotional, it's hard to imagine what it would be like without a special someone in your life. That helpless feeling of not being able to do anything for them is one of the worst, it makes your heart break. I love how even though youre sad, you find light in daily life. Beauitful things such as the moonlight, swans, & a ponds reflection symbolizes hope, closure & brighter days rather than the deep blue color you keep seeing. Lovely piece!
