Misconception

by MyHalozChokinMe   Sep 30, 2012

Don't talk to me as if you know me!

You hover around the periphery,

not daring to come close.

You speak of me like a goddess or angel,

so sinless and pure

but if you were to be so bold

and risk close association,

you would see that I'm neither of those.

Insidious misconception.

Inside my inner sanctum,

I am no more angelic than you.

No less fierce.

No less tainted.

It is convenient for you to idolize,

to believe me to be better than I am.

It satisfies your need,

fulfills your expectation,

but I have no desire to pacify you

nor provide you with a facade.

Instead, I bide my time, daring

you to approach.

Taunting you with revelation, amused

by your fanciful notions.

I know something you haven't accepted

because I am aware of who I am.

Just beyond your willingness to see,

you'll find, someone far more intriguing

lies beneath.

Love this idea and the relationship between the 2 characters, again it is so powerful. This could be between a number of differenet people and relationships.
