Midnight Messages

by Poet on the Piano   Oct 7, 2012

I didn't want to shake her shoulders last night
and tell her insomnia was roller blading off of conscious
nightmares. I knew she'd try to stay up with me, make a cup of tea,
talk it over, turn on more than one night light and question
why my heart felt dead when its beat could still be heard.

This is midnight though; it's how I came to know the night as
transmitting replies to those who forget what to dream
but scream to have some direction. As I curve my body to the
structure of this sofa I can't help but still my brain, stop
the dreamings, because I know they will never fit me

this late at night.

Insomnia sucks! What is LP talking about lol.....the only thing insomnia is good for is getting amazing writes out of poets.

^ Those lines were so awesome! It reminds me of someone who wants to go to sleep so bad, but the night wont let them because these people are confused, literally dont know what to dream. Im not sure if you meant that to be taken literally but I did and it makes sense to me, Ive been there.

    Awesome write!!

    That's a perfect write, MaryAnne.
The way you spoke in there is really enticing. Insomnia at its best!!
