Revenge

by Jenni Marie   Oct 10, 2012

She was burned, burned yet again;
her heart dripping with charcoal bits
and red ran from her eyes whilst her smile
bordered on sardonic

and her hands curled into fists
as the hurricane rail roaded her
causing her to become immobile
and as cold as winter
for she never knew pain
like this before

she'd trusted only to be reminded of why
she'd stopped allowing herself that luxury
and she'd temporarily lost her momentum
forgetting that there was someone else
to think of

her mind became delirious
as she allowed herself
to think about what had
been cast down upon her

all remedies ineffective,
unable to be rectified
and she doesn't know
where to turn anymore
for the person whom is supposed
to love her more than anyone else
is now the cause of red tears
and clenched fists
and fear that unfurls like a snake
unravelling about to pounce
upon its prey

and she has no idea about the path
she should take any longer
nor if she should seek revenge
or simply move forward
with her life

for she never intended to trust
nor to get hurt only somehow
she managed to complete both
and realized
why the two
go hand in hand

As with your poem Vulture's Prey this is very powerful the reader goes on a journey with the author and they end in the same place feeling the sadness and honesty of the conclusion. Another fantastic piece of work.

Absolutely beautiful and passionate. It's so sad though. The power in the words made the story so real and alive. I kinda wanted to cry a bit. I loved this piece!

A very characteristic emotional poem :)

It is hurtful when opening up to someone and sharing certain elements of your life but in the end everything feels like a lie in a way you never thought it would turn out the way it did.

Your poem demonstrates retaliating to an action (which i agree with other isn't good) caused by one whom was dearest to you. But that turned out he should have never been trusted because of lies and dishonesty to you.

Ah, trusting and getting let down...
It hurts so much, at times is even more than just dissapoijtment is pain.

What I like the most is again your words choice.

The title caught my attention... The pain most have been so much that you are seeking revenge though revenge is not good. And I can see your dilemma of what to do and also it enhances the pain felt within the poem. Well done accomplishing that. Also It gives the readerthe option to believe what they want and also to give their opinions towards seeking revenge. Which in my opinion revenge is not the option.

    Well done
