Mislead Me

by Stephen   Oct 11, 2012

Oh please tell me,

Tell me things will be okay
when I know that it's not true.
Then tell me that you still love me
in the same exact way that I love you.

Save my heart all the troubles
let's continue to play this game.
I'm not ready to expose rubble
of pure love that doesn't remain.

Please, oh please,
will you leave a life vest?
In case when this hits me
my tears do cause flooding.

At least then I'll have leverage
and will not be drowning
when I realize that to you
I mean nothing.

This poem is so sad and sweet, I really like the deep emotions that flow through this piece. The truth is sometimes we rather keep pretending that we are in love instead of move on. I really believe that moving on is one of the hardest things to do when you truly love someone.

    My favorite stanzas...

Tell me things will be okay
When I know that it's not true.
Then tell me that you still love me
In the same exact way that I love you.

I love this stanza because you are expressing a need to hear that you are love
    even if it's not true.

At least then I'll have leverage
    and will not be drowning
when I realize that to you
    I mean nothing.

When we are losing our grip on someone we feel a need to use anything as leverage to hold that person or make them reconsider their thoughts about leaving us.

    I love it...
