My Knight in the Night

by Lyndy   Oct 12, 2012

The moon sought my soul
in the echoes of the night

With each syllable brought
a thumping to my dead heart

Enclosed in four walls of a room
with closed door & an open window

looking out, I saw

A knight,
in dark, moon beamed armor

I rode along his mighty steed
Cantering upon the rutted roads ahead

He does not speak a word
but words do echo in the eventide's end

tracing haven in every meter we put away

Oh the many 'i love you's'
I could not push away from my mouth

A love that filled the cracks of a broken heart

He rides the hour in midnight's cloak
his glow, an effulgence I never knew I sought

Drifting back and forth
with renewed heart thrumming

This dream,
only I will be seeking

A love to fill my very being
