Brilliant, as its simplicity having the free verse style. I can say that you describe him all in the title of the poem which is so deep as a drying rose. I think you can say 'a drying rose' than 'a dried rose' and it's up to you. I really enjoyed reading your poem. |

This is incredibly sad, and probably true for some old men and women out there whose family has taken advamtage of their hard work and pays little attention to them now that they are old and retired. That makes me sad....Reminds me to always keep loving on my parents and granny, appreciate every day with them, and all their hard work. Thank you for writing this beautiful piece. I enjoyed it. |

Amreen this is really good and really touching, the last stanza is really sad and so poignant. |
This is so sad, reminds me of an old man sitting in the nursing home with his family only visiting on holidays...and when they do, they all chat with each other instead of actually trying to talk to him and be there for him. It happens so often... so heartbreaking. :( |
This so brilliantly executed. Your detailing is done beautifully considering the scenario the subject is in. A deep message you pondered about. Its very unfortunate that parents and grannies hard work, love and time doesn't pay off in their older years. When they need to enjoy the fruits of their labour. They're least taken into consideration as they sacrificed their time and energy to ensure we got the best of our needs met. Nowadays 'old peoples home' is their bus stop. After years of driving on the road just to please us. |

Now that's original. I like such topics. They move me. It's so sad to become old and gray. I have this phobia of Alzheimer because it runs in our family from my father's side. Here, it's different, yet still about being old and overlooked; you can't do anything. And whatever you did in the past is just forgotten... |
Incredibly heart-breaking. Just goes to show you, how loosely people use the word family. No one should should ever feel this, especially when they've worked so hard to provide. Truly thought provoking, and well penned. |
This is really very sad poem...n thanks for such a meaningful n beautiful description! |

Sad poem. This really made me think of how it would be like to be an old man who was forgotton by his friends and family. |

Wow, this poem is sad but touching. I can understand how someone who worked their whole life to support a family can now feel looked over. My grandmother did before she died. No one should ever feel that way |
The title: WOW! I think this is a beautiful title that speaks volumes by itself. It really drew me in. |

Wow! I love how raw the imagery is; you really made me see this man and care deeply about him in just 5 stanzas! |
WOW!!!! i stand corrected i am NOT a good poet after reading this!!!! the title didn't really give me a hint of this but it should've! dang this poem made me want to cry and i don't cry normally and unfortunalty people that give the better part of their lives for their families often are those like these in this poem but not if he has people love him this poem is just awesome and no one will take it away the greatness in this poem! :) 5/5 |
This really captures the dismal plight of aging. It almost gives a shiver of anxiety about aging, so it must be well-written! 5/5 |

What I got from it is you spend your life then you grow old and watch the world deteriorate . He misses the past and his youth. maybe im totally wrong. but thats what i got from it . i like it , putting yourself in someone elses shoes. |
