Broken Society

by Not Enough   Oct 18, 2012

Adapting to society is essential to succeed.
These institutions deliberately mislead,
mislead children with a future so fatal,
teaching these kids that will never be able.

They'll never know what real life is like,
playing with phones instead of riding a bike.
Easy living gone bad, easy living gone wrong
but what happens when you just don't belong?

They tell us it's okay, that we can be different,
then throw us to institutions that are the basis of judgement.
These places are supposed to work for every person,
we're all different, there should be more than one version.

How can we be equals when we're not all the same?
Why do they teach us using only one way?
What happens when you don't blend with the crowd?
Lack of adaptation just isn't allowed.

I refuse to be the result of a broken society,
I refuse to allow these places to change me.
They've stolen the passion right from my soul,
creating a person I don't even know.

They've warped my words to be clinical and objective,
making my opinions completely ineffective
They've created limitations, telling me wrong from right,
then expect me to adapt without a single fight

This world was built on war and destruction,
I will not adapt to this sort of seduction.
It's only one culture they teach, half-truths.
I will not be apart of these misguided youths.

I refuse to be a robot amongst the rest
I refuse to allow my voice to be suppressed
Adapting to a world inadequate for me
Just isn't something that I can see
