The Man Inside Her Head

by Nicole   Oct 20, 2012

Misunderstood, she calls herself dead
all she thinks about is the man in her head
she cant let go, no matter how hard she tries
she feels alone, and all she does is cry

she contemplates his face, and how ugly it is
she says his name like waste, for how pathetic it is
she tries to let go, but her hand is gripped like steel
but still she knows the man inside her head isn't real

as time takes its toll, her surroundings wont let her forget
it just builds up, she wants nothing less than death
her only release is the paper she rights on
but it hurts her more when the inspiration is gone

depression is a symptom, happiness has a cost
she cant let go of the ugliest thing she's lost
she knows it as the truth, the last days have been deceived
but she thinks about the past, when he asked, "will you marry me?"

Thank you. It's about a heartbreak I went through a few years back, I wrote it before I got over the relationship. It wasn't an easy one to get over. I tend to write about whatever is bothering me, to get it out, but years down the road, I can read it, and just think back at how I would handle certain situations with a clear mind. :)

Good write, this poem is fill with sad emotions but that's what makes it good. Sometimes when we are letting go our mind and heart won't allow us to.
