A Treasured Walk

by kimberly lewis   Oct 23, 2012

As I walk the meadow that is so lush and green,

I notice I am no longer alone.

A figure walks up beside me and takes my hand,

I look up into his eyes and it feels like home.

My father smiles down at me as we continue walking along,

No words are spoken, No promises are broken,

beautiful birds are singing their song.

Suddenly he stops then smiles so sweetly at me,

He raises his hand in a farwell wave as he walks off

leaving me.

I open my eyes and take a deep breath and

the tears of past years begin to fall,

leaving a wet path down my cheeks.

I am sad and glad all at once,

to of been able to get that treasured walk I have missed

with my father, I am blessed.
