Elementary

by MyHalozChokinMe   Oct 28, 2012

You want simple
but love the
tangled web.

You enlist support
but push the tripod
over.

You crave difference
but repeat the same
patterns.

You hate drama
but hire the finest
actors.

You need no one
but embrace
the patron's
hand.

Simple is basic.

Basic is a beginning.

A beginning that leads
to the complications of life,
which has been your
destination all along.

I love the contrasts here and how you express the opposite of what we want and what we sometimes do. Great idea. I also like how the start was like a list of these things, then the end of the poem you kind of analysed what the truth of them really is and highlighted the meaning of your poem.

Cara- This poem really tugs me in directions of all angles... I adore the title because it does take me back to elementary thoughts... want to grow, but continuing to repeat mistakes and making more out of something so simple.... thought provoking piece with my coffee, I love it!
