Hey November What's in your pocket?

by Khalid M Darwish   Oct 31, 2012

Hey November, I know you're coming
to fire off October and angrily tell him:
get out of here and never come back!

I will telling you that your ex, October
harvested so many things in his basket
though he left you with so many others

He took many souls hopes and dreams
leaving you with many fighting nations,
the Sandy storm and happy Halloween

You remind me with a month I was born
a month when I finished my higher study
and a month when I got my first kid born

I wonder, what will take in your basket?
what will you harvest among our souls?
and will you leave us with peaceful end?

One is always clouded in anticipation of what the next month or year brings for us. We're always in constant chagrin as when will ones despair will be wiped out by hopeful and reviving news. Invariably we're left with little positivity and assurance. How long can we tread on in such ways of life, as nothing seem to be forthcoming.

When we wish peace will rain in our cities infused with political, tribal, economic and terrorist massacres/riots. When can we assure our children its safe to go out and play with the next door neighbours kids. When will youngsters stop fighting their elders in the name of rightful independence. The list goes on and on. A lot of choas occuring be it in the republic/government/democratic regime or monarchy reign.

A profound and a beautifully written sad piece. Conveyed with words choosen well. Great work as usual of you. Bon Travail!
