Lightbulbs in my head

by Yakari Gabriel   Nov 2, 2012

I asked my mother
if my father was the love
of her life, she said:
"no,
I went with him out
of bitterness, out of grief
for losing the love of
my life"

they are things
I will never understand.

but,
somewhere between
an absent father
a harsh mother
and a few heartbreaks

I learned, that I was
the one who
had to treat myself
a little bit better.

Yaki, the story in this is beautiful.....that attitude is beautiful..regardless if your father isn't around and if you have a harsh mother, the fact that it makes you want to strive for a better life is beautiful to me. So many people with stories like that get involved with drugs and alcohol, bad people, live carelessly.....stay strong girl, yes, treat yourself to a life that your parents couldn't or chose not to...you of all people know, you only live once....make it worth it mami :)

Mwah...I love when you write like this. Short story, poetically...sigh* <3
