Traitor

by MyHalozChokinMe   Nov 3, 2012

So innocent when used to decorate
a child's room, or a piece of art,
or the front of yet another card-

But we deny, or maybe we forget
that there is so much more to
that simple shape.

We uphold the simplicity and ignore
what lies within. Four restless chambers
never ceasing until the last beat.

We teach our children to seek their
heart's desire as we bleed our own
love like some reckless suicide.

So how do we, the inexperienced,
explain that when the heart turns
traitor, it is always the ones who
love that pay the cost?

That tears can't heal a heart that's
broken or bleeding.

That even the truest heart can fail.

How do you convince your own heart of
the practical matters that will still the beat
of a heart that only knows how to love?
