Human, three thirds (free verse)

by Khalid M Darwish   Nov 6, 2012

Luqman,
a wise man
is telling his son
Look my dear son
You, as a human being
are divided into three thirds

A third for God
A third for yourself
And a third for worms

That for God is your soul
That for yourself is your work
And that for worms is your body

I like this piece as well, such truth. I think it'd be really interesting if there was more elaboration in this piece though about each of the thirds. Maybe for a second poem?

    Good work though!

And a third to the worms..

the soul goes up(heaven) or down(hell), the body remains to adhere to the ground and the work one developed on earth will either be remember or forgotten according to how good one did it.

Three things that one should focus on while on earth. Well done.
