This is a love poem

by Yakari Gabriel   Nov 6, 2012

I know it is not gonna sound like it,
but this truly is a love poem,
as I lay here,
analyzing this very moment
with nothing but the sound
of the wind lingering in my ear

I focus on nothing, but the love
I feel inside, the beating of my heart
how it has gone from sounding
like a caribean tambu festival
to a slow jazz like tune,

(there's no excitement
in me anymore)

from the highs, I have crash
to the lows and I miss your
big, bright and brown eyes
more than anything

the long hours my phone
goes without being used,
reminds me of those long
moments of silent a woman
usually goes through when
there is something heavy on her
mind

I am sorry for letting it go this far,
sorry for burrying myself this
deep

but I am mostly sorry
for the way
I don't regret touching
what wasn't mine at all.

Yaki, every word that comes out of your mouth is virtually poetic and sometimes I wonder if there is anything you cannot write about.

This is a love poem, indeed, though it only describes the sadness of feeling lonely and loving someone or some things that is/are not yours.

Your ending lines were powerful as they conveyed the dramatic and emotional intensity in this piece.
