La Llorona

by Emmanuel Pineda   Nov 10, 2012

She floats through streets and weeps sweep,
Frightfully robbing the town of sleep.

Weeping for problems that she drowned,
Dragging her toes all along the ground.

She searches for children she never will find,
And wishes to pass a past she'll never leave behind.

Roam Llorona, cry your tears,
But never find comfort from all of your fears.

Beautiful piece. Really captures the legend of the weeping woman. Loved that you chose to write in the third person point of view; I find it quite clever as I could just imagine the persona watching the woman's ghost himself and speaking of, then to her. Simple rhymes yet they are very well-executed. Reminds me of classical poems. Truly enjoyed this. Keep writing.
