Temporary Sun

If I could only make one statement, I'd make it to
the sun because you get to see her every day, even
if I'm not around. I'd ask her to keep you warm when
my body cannot and to radiate her beams on your
tensed shoulders. Until I can. Until we meet again.

I'll ask her to glare into your eyes so she can reflect
back to me and when I see your iris among the clouds,
I'll feel you. I've asked her to kiss you softly and leave
a trail of lipstick on the top bunk of your cheek bones.

I've asked her to remind you of me. So when her golden
locks fall from her scalp and twist around your finger,
she's giving you a taste of me. When she sets, recognize
she's leaving for you to rest, and will rise again tomorrow.
Like I'd promise. Until I can. Until we meet again.

When I arrive, when we reunite, she will no longer be
needed because a new sky awaits us. One filled with
an eternity of stars for us to gaze at. One we'll never
get sick of. When I'm back, I will be your sunshine
because you deserve all the radiance in this world
