Golden Child

by NineteenMinutes   Nov 15, 2012

I wish in your eyes we were equal,
I wish you'd look at us and say,
That we were all to you special,
And mean it in every single way.
But when you defend yourself of our accusations,
The words never sound a hundred percent true,
We are all awaiting you aproval,
But you spit us out after you chew.
Your golden child casts a glow,
In the shadow of which we pale,
We search and search for the sunlight,
Growing ever more timid and frail.
Our petals are battered and withered,
Her golden petals are pretty and demure,
We all used to possess you affection,
And the hole it has left feels so sore.
We are all your children,
All beautiful flowers in our own way,
Yet only one of us ever gets a mention,
The rest are left to decay.
