A bed of roses

by The Poet Behind The Poems   Nov 19, 2012

I longed for death, I welcomed
the reapers touch , but to no avail.
I laugh in the face of fate himself,
but all I got was symmetry, for he
knows my number has not yet
been called.

Your essence still triggers memories
of yesteryear ,impaled in my heart
are the words haunting my fragile mind
"I will always love you".

I remember skating hand in hand,
talking till the sun reappeared,
drowning in your creative words ,
what I would give to witness
your resurrection

Then I would never have to release my anguish
in liquid form, I don't hate God , but my faith
is buried under,
A bed of roses .

This is strangely relevant to me today. Though it might not be about a relationship between you and a significant other, that's what it read to me. It pulls you into a depression and you invite death. But unless it's part of God's will for you to die at that moment, you don't.

Something really reminded me of myself a year or two prior to who I am now.

"I don't hate God , but my faith
    is buried under,
    A bed of roses ."

That was worded just right. Worded enough to punch a hole in my stomach. I like this one as well. It gives you a sinking sensation, a loss of hope from the speaker. Very upsetting. But good.

I've said it before, I'll say it again-
Something has changed with your writing as of late.

I like the change in language and flow...

The mood of the piece definitely draws me in.

And the part that I relate the most to:

"But my faith is buried under a bed of roses."

I also loved the way you described crying, "anguish in liquid form."

This was a sound piece Tony.
    Well penned, again. =)

    Loved this one T.

    Your essence still triggers memories
of yesteryear ,impaled in my heart
are the words haunting my fragile mind
    "I will always love you".

    - I really liked this stanza, it touched me deep right now because it can be related to someone who has died but also to someone who we loved and they gave us this promise, yet somehow they left and took that promise with them.

    nice job x

    Hey, Tony!
The title caught my eyes because I love this term 'bed of roses', and I confess that your language is evolving. Here, it is stronger than all of your old poems. Also, the format, the style, the way you approached your topic. That's a massive change to the better.

    I loved this poem! Hats-Off
