The Flood

Claws of my demons grab
at the fabric of my clothes.
Shredding them and the
skin underneath, leaving me bleeding.

Their voices toy with my emotions,
pulling me deeper into a flood of my imperfections.
They keep me under so I can't
get the air I so desperately need.

Struggling to keep breathing
while they laugh at my attempts.

My vision flickers in and
out, my body giving up the fight.
I'm fading, drowing in a world
of doubts. Nothing left to save.

I finally realize this is what
they want. Me to give up.

My mind shuts down at the
same time my demons shut up.
Death will come peacefully now.
The flood has won.

    This is soooo deep and pwoerful. I loved the opening it was so eye catching and drew me right in. It shows how beat up you feel and haunted by them, how much they try and constantly bring you down to a point where you struggle to face them.

    During the poem I liked how you gradually gave up trying, then towards the end you just gave up because it was easier than fighting, You realized that they feed on your fear and weakness and for them to stop you feel like you would have to let them eat you up. If they feel they win then they will stop.

    It described a very high emotion of a fragile state of mind, depressiona nd isolation. Well done
