I'll Never Promise You Fairytales

by Ami Mosher   Dec 1, 2012

Loved poured out from my heart,
I'd hoped you felt the same,
You captured me with your eyes,
All full of stories and pain.
I'd peeled away at the surface,
But I wanted to know a lot more,
I had to wait to be trusted,
For you had a lock on that door.
Your life just hadn't been easy,
Disapointment and injury,
I had to be sure you understood,
That hurt wasn't coming from me.
I wouldn't lie or deceive you,
I'll take good care of your heart.
Our love will endure through the ages,
As strong as it was at the start.
I'll never promise you fairytales,
The fairytale's eventually gone.
I'll promise to love you forever,
Till the paper's all written upon.
