I do know if I do it right?

by Ole Carsten   Dec 4, 2012

Do you pray in the morning?
I am not used to do that,
But I admit I train for it in the morning,
I want you to be safe out there.

When I cut my hair,
I rehearse the silent prayer,
It is not meant for others to listen to,
Like a talk with a person you don't know.

I let my mind take a walk,
Down memory Lane,
Crossing good and bad on its way,
I don't know your day.

Thinking about the wardrobe,
Containing so mush,
What will you chose?
Something warm it is getting frosty.

Are the tiers shifted to winter?
The snow is there now,
All is slippery now,
Children is playing and laughing.

I want my dear ones to feel good,
To be warm and safe,
I know I am a fool on two legs,
That is way I keep it between him and me,

My prayer is over and I feel better,
Like a mental cleaning under a invisible shower,
I haven't learned to pray,
Maybe all is wrong?

I hope someone thinks about me,
With a silent prayer in the morning,
Send in love
To the guy above.

The title was a bit confusing, perhaps that was the intend.

I mean to question something that you are sure yet you are not...

I mean, when I read the poem I thought that perhaps, indeed, you are sure that you are doing it right because you feel relief and cleaned after praying, however, there are doubts on whether the praying is done properly?. And I'm guessing that's where the title comes from.

"I do know if I do it right?"

My first thought when I read it, I though it said I don't know if I do it right? But then I can see why is I Do Know if I do it right? You are not entirely sure, yet you are.
