Paranoia

by Scarlett   Dec 7, 2012

When I was younger I did not think a person like you could exist
I would never let you back in my life
But I am grateful you found me
You are like a double sided mirror with two different reflections
On one side you are strong and unbreakable
On the other you are broken from your own self-delusions
This side you keep glued to the wall in hopes that no one will see
You wish you could ask for help
But as you try the words become frozen to your lips
Your cold sigh of dismay forms an icicle
That's just waiting... waiting to be shattered
So that someone may hear your cry
You're tired of debating, contemplating, and commiserating
On the screaming voices trapped within your mind
You just want to unwind, rewind, and find
The one single voice you once called yourself
You feel the rising tension from the lack of self-control
That makes your mind want to implode or explode
Whichever will obliterate the pain infused to your brain
You begin running through the darkness
To the comfort of a silent melody
You try searching for your freedom deep within your bones
But stop, drop, and roll you hit the ground
And pray to God for a silver-lining
For all you can focus on is the paranoia
That's seeped deep within your veins
Suddenly, the sound of a shallow stream draws you away
Following the unknown, well into the darkness
The time reaches midnight
And you begin to smite God above
For bringing you nothing but the moonlight
On your way back you run into a crystal clear pond
As you look into the water you see your reflection
And remember life is about the journey not the destination
You have a renewed sense of faith
Faith that lifts your fog of paranoia
Faith the frees you from all your fears
Faith that allows you to live for the moment
God guided you in this direction
So that you could find your true reflection
Now that I am older I know a person like you can exist
I still would never let you back in my life
But I am grateful you found me in your reflection from the pond

I really like the title, strong one. I have great respect for authors who write poems with great lenght, for me its a tough one to do, keep it interesting and all, and you managed to keep this one, interesting that is. So, great. Keep it up.
