Don't Hold On

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Dec 12, 2012

Silence overwhelms me
I encounter the darkness
here we are, our lips are touching
but we're far apart inside
you tell me that you love me
a lonely tear escapes my eye
but I wipe it away before you see
the secret I'm trying to hide

I've been terribly selfish
and I really wanna tell you
just so you know, I've done wrong
and I don't want to hurt you anymore
you tell me not to go
but I've already opened the door
I just step out into the rain
and cry tears of sorrow as it pours

you could feel it in my touch
we've grown weaker and farther
our hearts still beat for love
but it had gotten harder
with this last request
promise me that even though I've left
you'll remain strong
so don't hold on

I'm not who you deserve
I would've just made it worse
I've tried but I haven't prevailed...

the past is the past
and, unfortunately, we could not last
so I've written this song
to tell you 'don't hold on'

I think it could of used some rhyming and sentence flow. Although it was great love your poetic voice.
