Scars and Souvenirs

by Meme   Dec 12, 2012

When she was just a girl
she collected broken pearls
And beaded them once again
only to wear them in pain

No one told her a broken chain
is a thing that cant be fixed again
So she kept picking each piece
looking for them without cease

Those pearls resembled the fears
that grew within her along the years
And the only souvenir left behind
together with the images in her mind

Her skin only portrayed scars
that weren't made by broken jars
But she cherished each one of them
thinking they tied her in to him

And still no one could understand
what left her with bleeding hands
Or the look in her innocent eyes
it was so much for her to disguise

I always intended to comment on this piece since I read it but it was so relateable and emotional to me that I never found the words, I still can't but know that you touched me and you moved me, and it was a piece that healed me in a way...
