Fearlessness

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 19, 2012

Catching the flame tightly
in the palm of my hand
and blowing it out
with one sharp breath.

Walking the crumbling path
that leads to a destination unknown
beyond the shadows of the trees.

Feeling the strong cold wind
brush against my face,
trying to knock me off balance
but my feet remain firmly on the ground.

Staring at haunting demons,
into their evil soul, unafraid of
the painted warning exclamations
inside their red beady eyes.

Unlocking the old dusty box
that my past has been sleeping in
because it is now time
to awaken its memory.

Holding the world on the
tip of my finger and spinning
it around until I decide
it is time for it to halt.

Standing before the devil
and his thorny whipping tail,
as I paint him blue with defeat
and watch him melt away.

Holding my head up high
and skipping through the darkness,
catching the flame of life tightly
inside the palm of my hands
and blowing it out with one sharp breath....

......because I am not afraid.

Wow!!! I love this poem! It's sooo inspiring! The title caught my eye. I love the idea of fearlessness. It's a quality I wish I had more of. I must say everything you described in this poem was exhilarating, and things people don't normally do.

    I have a few suggestions..

    "Staring haunting demons"
^^ did you mean staring at haunting demons ?

    "to awaken it's memory. "
    ^^ change it's to its.

I must say this was my favorite stanza:

    Unlocking the old dusty box
that my past has been sleeping in
    because it is now time
    to awaken it's memory.

^^ I love it because it made me think of an old box with your ex's things or things that remind you of him. and how going through that box is not scary or hard anymore.. because you've moved on and accepted that it's over. This is just where my mind drifted off to!

And of course the ending... so simple yet powerful. I absolutely love this poem. Keep on being fearless!!! :)

I love this Saffie!!!! OMG It is brilliant.
Good on you for writing this piece, the message behind it is such a deep and powerful one, never be afraid because fear always makes it harder to live.

Just breathtaking, and I love how it came full circle at the end with the repetition, and once again, the imagery was just perfection...

    xxx LOVE IT!
