Sweet Dreamer

by WitheredRose   Dec 20, 2012

Awake; in mortal surrender I lay
Locked in limbo of conscious thought and dream
Abandoned by guardian angel
Fed to wolves of reality, my mind wanders
Meandering coast lines, kissed golden by
northbound sun

Soothed by scattered rose petals, delicately strewn
By every gentle phrase; reassured with every fragment
of damaged soul sewn back into place
A mosaic waiting for an artisan skilled enough
to finish; I see through his eyes.
No broken mirror shattered beyond repair

Friendships' light touches eyes once hardened by
Medusa's stare of misfortune; softened with
the gaze that crosses oceans
Sweet dreamer, gentle dreamer, dream me a dream
Where I may lie upon sands warm with compassion
And repair the stone castle of a heart

So that a smile touches lips once more
Dream on sweet dreamer
