Money Without Owner [Sonnet]

by Khalid M Darwish   Dec 20, 2012

My son found much money thrown on the ground
On his way going with brothers to school
He was reluctant either to make sound
or to hide them, thinking all people fool

The school phoned me to come there by next day
but they did not tell why they need me for
My son reached home but he was not okay
"I didn't steal any money." He swore

Receiving the money back was funny
Next day the children went back for study
But again they came back with more money
The story was told to every buddy

I wonder why have this happened to me
I asked myself what's this supposed to be

A very interesting subject, I enjoyed reading this, although I felt the rhyme scheme was very strained. As usual though, I love reading your poems!

A different piece. And the message it gives out is good as well. I liked the poem. A nice attempt:)

Okay this poem is cute to read my dear friend! :) i love the part where it says..."The school phoned me to come there by next day
but they did not tell why they need me for
My son reached home but he was not okay
"I didn't steal any money." He swore"
since every child says that and yet the parents don't believe them when they actually tell the truth... well for mine anyhow lol i really enjoyed the emotions i felt in this piece and the images i saw in my head were sweet too! :) 5/5 my dear friend!!!
