Shhh... What Do I Hear?

by Dreamofolwin   Dec 21, 2012

Children laughing, having fun
now that winter has begun...
Snow covered trees everywhere,
as mice in our house do stir!

Yes, I heard a little scratch,
that nearly sent me up the hatch!
I'm afraid of the little fellows you see
don't want him sitting on my knee!

Sshh, what else do I hear?
bells chimming in good cheer.
Children singing round glisening trees,
their little faces full of glee.

But the sound I really love the best,
is late at night when I sit down to rest.
The crackles off my nice log fire...
this is my pleasure, my hearts' desire!

    Olwin,
What a beautiful little piece of poetry this is - I could almost hear the little mouse scratching and imagine the warm crackling log fire, which I myself am rather partial to!
You've painted a really lovely and honest picture here of a lovely time of year.
All the very best and take care,
    Ben
