Our lady of cold

by Wisdom Kanyone   Dec 22, 2012

I can see her now!
The racing wind
as nature empties her freezer.
Sweeping the street and the town
with her long shiny gown.

As she strolls by
she blows her cold kiss to you and I
and makes us shiver.
With her ugly make up,
she paint our skins white
and causes our heels to peel.
Even the trees hates her silently
and the once green grasses
murmurs against her for bleaching their colours.

Like that harsh aunt
we actually waited for her come,
and now that she's here
we wish her to be gone.

See us-
see how heavily we dress
like new soldiers on parade
trying hard to impress.
Covering all our bodies-
even our mouths with vaseline.
And swallow ourselves in layers of cloth
till we forget we are actually slim.
But beautiful harmattan,
we waited for her to come,
and now we must endure her
till she reaches her brim.

(dedicated to the winter season)

This is a great poem I like the description you give the winter season by describing its beauty as well as its harshness. There's nothing more beautiful than the seasons that decorated our surroundings.

    Great poem.
