Magic of Christmas Love

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 23, 2012

On this cold Christmas morning
with the snowflakes softly falling,
I quietly sip my coffee and watch the joy
spread across my children's faces,
as they unwrap colourful paper
to reveal their perfect gifts.

I escape to the frosted window,
open it up to feel the crisp winter air.
I look longingly up to the sky
as a hint of sadness washes over me.

Sweet child of mine, I wish you were here
for this moment should be shared with you.
I wonder what your smile would be like
as you experienced the magic of Christmas love.

As I get lost in my curious thoughts of you,
a beautiful white dove flies elegantly past my eyes.
It drops a note which slides through the gap
and lands peacefully inside my hand.

As I open the note and I read the words,
my eyes fill up with tears.
For I cannot believe this dove
has blessed me with magic too.

"Dearest mummy I am here,
there is no need to miss me.
I am everything around you
and in everything you do.
My smile is beautiful
just like yours
and the love of Christmas magic
travels right up to my home.
I am watching over you
every single day
and my love for you continues to grow
just like your love for me.
There is no distance far enough
to end a mother's love.
So wipe your tears and turn around
and enjoy your Christmas day.
Dearest mummy I am here
and I won't ever go away."

The note disappears and my tears dry up
as I close the windows shut.
I put down my coffee
and return to where I was.
Looking above our decorated tree,
I see the angel smiling down.

Sweet child of mine, you were so right
for you have been here all along.
