Fake Families

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 25, 2012

Gathered around in the warm sitting room
as you all sip crimson wine from crystal glasses.

Not a cloud from the past nor a raindrop from yesterday
will create a storm to break apart your game of happy families.

I watch you for a while through the glass in the wooden door
before returning to my room, alone on Christmas Eve.

But don't you worry, I will be okay
for I have found a new family now.

Someone who won't hide me away
and shadow me in an old secret box.

Someone who will accept my past
and love me for just being me.

Someone who will take my heart,
fix it with their beautiful soul,

and set my spirit free.

This poem actually sounded dark, instead of sad, I read it in an angry tone. I mean the content is sad. However, the over all tone sounded more darkish.

    There is a small typo:

Soemone who won't hide me away

    ^
    Someone.

In some cases, one finds a family where there is no blood relation.
But we all know realize what the true meaning of family is.

I loved how it begins with a feeling of loneliness and being pushed away by a family that wants perfection ignoring the existence of mistakes and flaws.. it's all just a play 'we are who we pretend to be'.. Then it ends with a sheer of hope and the fact that you are okay now that you find those who will accept you for who you are, not perfect.
    awesome write!
