Metered Bondage

by joseph santacruz   Dec 25, 2012

Robbing Paul to pay Peter
theres a hold up man in town.......the parking meter.
A dollar for fifteen minutes, thats what Im spending
for that price I could probably find someone with a happy ending.(benefits(?) of living on skid row)
It has an`insatiable appetite I found
eats quarters by the rolls but dont gain a pound.
I must pay him dearly everyday
(or else my car is whisked away)
The cranky judge only had one thing to say
Shut up! and make a check out to the city of LA.
Hes always starving but a finicky eater
only quarters for the parking meter.
Rise and face the meter! they demand it
I was once fleeced by his brother the one armed bandit.
meters hands always out rain or shine
he always gets his, I barely get mine.
I tried to carpool but what an unsavory lot
a chronic case of "carpool tunnel syndrome*
is what I caught.
*carpool tunnel syndrome-an old malady I just made up
exactly the same as "cabin fever" but totally different.
Dealings with the parking meter always leave me taken
my poor kids college fund is now forsaken
(while im shaken down by those "men of bacon" (cops)
"crime dosent pay" thats the buzz
owning a parking meter surely does.
My hungry girlfriend left...I couldnt feed her (meat? or meter?) reduced to lonely poverty by the parking meter.
I wonder who determines the upward sliding scale I pay?
location location location is all they say
I should quit my snivelin' but im an easy mark
hi way robbery every time I park.
Of this metered bondage Im so tired
overstay my welcome, two faced meter screams expired!
To the clerk a check I send
now I have less money on meter to spend.
a limited investment opportunity available soon
be the first man on your block to become a private parking meter tycoon.
There! its out of my system. its done and said
but still the parking meter rents space in my head.
