I Hear America Singing (twenty-first century version)

by Cecilia   Jan 2, 2013

I hear America singing,
A song that flows like honey and smells just as sweet,
But whose object is artificial, only meant to be a veil.
The business men sing this song, while counting their lucre they hum along,
Politicians chant it when they hit the stage,
Ranting and raving, going on without bathing
The falsities and ferocities from their god-like bodies.
Children in schools become fools,
Learning from their thrice divorced parents about love and affection
So early in life have they grown out their shroud to hide their defection,
And monotonous citizens who stroll through polystyrene streets whistling the tune,
Smile fake and forced, striving to be endorsed
And forget about the basic principles to living,
And so they breath without breathing, think without thinking.
This is the song to our great nation today, who betrays tradition and forgets to pray,
And whose melody and lyrics emanate from sea to shining sea.
