Christmas

by Andrew Packard   Jan 5, 2013

Christmas comes,
and Christmas goes.
Will it snow?
We just don't know.

More toys for Boys,
But are we better off?
And do we remember the last ones?

The real meaning of Christmas;
Feed the poor,
Heal the sick,
Minister to those in prison,
But that just ain't no fun!

Each Christmas must be ...
Bigger and better than the last.
As we give into temptation,
Never doing without,
The latest in titillating entertainment.

Does God have a plan,
To tie all the loose strings together,
That we have neglected unattended?
In this multi-verse of unending possibility ....

I actually enjoyed this, I agree with the way christmas has been over taken by the greed for toys and money. The true meaning becomes forgotton, but it is only going to grow worse over time becuase no one is teaching children the true meaning anymore and with the media throwing impressins of christmas meaning chocolate and toys, how can we convince them other wise?

    Great poem!

Do you have children? I was thinking on going strict next year and do less goodies and more real meaning stuff. How do you think that would fly?
