Aspirations

by Andrew Packard   Jan 5, 2013

"Aspirations"

Free your mind,
Of what is to come.
Leave Behind,
The sorrow and the humdrum.

The past all bundled,
Suitcase tightly locked.
Dream horse saddled,
Expectations Blocked.

Nowhere on the Horizon,
No companion at your side.
The Universe Beckon,
Begin your phobic ride.

It's never what it seems,
The physical falls short of the cerebral.
Always wanting the extremes,
Actual perfection Unable ...

Out of the Ashes,
Spirit Grips and Rises.
Acquiesce,
To Just what Is ....

I enjoy the way you rhyme your poems, I can see you kind of started with one thought here and just carried on letting the next thought come also. Each line is like a different thought and holds its own emotion. Very well done.

Yeah, I don't like the way it ended. I like to end with a bang and this kind of ends with a fizzle. The original idea behind the poem is how we fall short of what we plan to do and our life doesn't turn out how you want at all. But when I write the poems come out how they want sort of speak not necessarily how I want.

Thanks so much! They just come out, but sometimes you are surprised and not expecting what comes out, I guess that's what the poem is about!
