Wow, Karla. This was incredibly provoking in my mind. That last line hit me, is the man the wolf who had taken her down, preyed on her? Was she physically/emotionally abused? Belittled? Was she raped? I thought one part to be really interesting, and not what I was expecting- when you said she doesn't see herself as a victim because she is an unafraid kind of woman- to trudge on, no matter how raw she may still feel from it. Then, the "she buried between her legs and sleeps with one eye open, but she doesn't complain" hurts my heart, is she alone in this struggle? She certainly has inner strength but I still feel she's hiding this within her and is just waiting for someone in life to finally tell.....this woman is learning who she is again and trusting herself- no longer hating herself for what her story has been - her past. |
