Essence of Me

by Maple Tree   Jan 15, 2013

It wasn't the depth

of my confession

that slapped

you reality's

grin, but

the elegance

of my tone.

You can

clearly taste

raw feelings

giving birth

on the tip

of your tongue,

it leaves

me feeling a

sense of relief

in knowing,

that honesty

is far better

than fake eyes

dancing in

candy coated

braziers-

the pure essence
of me is sweet
enough....

Brillant poem Maple. I like the beginning how you express it is not what has been said but they way in which it has been said. This is a great thing because it is through our tone that we can show what we mean, our tone shows whether we are fearful or strong. whether we are confident or not.

You then go on to desribe that the truth in what you have said may not be what they want to hear, but the truth does not always taste best. I adore your line of the raw feelings giving birth on their tongue, I can image the reply it would create with all of these screaming emotions in response to your voice.

But then you end the poem with an uplifting, confident statement of your self worth and self respect. And that is the be all and end all of the matter.

    Great job x

Sometimes to be ourselves we must, and its the loss of others that don't see our greatness.
The essence of you is strong. Powerful and beautiful, and this piece is just that. It's you.
