Inside my blood, Pluto freezes |
by Darren
What Karla does well with this poem is the fantastic indulgence of imagery. There is so much going on that you have to read this 2 or 3 times to really stand any chance of understanding what she is saying. I think the potential double reference of pluto is very clever. There is real darkness throughout this piece, 'freezing blood' and the biting of the umbilical cord. What really stands out for me is the conflict throughout. Is it a love poem? Not sure when even in the final stanza hate rears its ugly head. Great Write Karla. |

I adore your poetry, Karla. It is hard to comment, analyse/interpret and each line that comes next is unexpected yet you always tie them together beautifully. I've always thought you write one of the best endings, but not so that I'd skip to it as every thing you write is always interesting and creative. Very inspiring. |
