Night Will Fall

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 18, 2013

I am frightened for the ones
who leap onto faith but don't
have hearts ready to accompany
their every desire.

I have been them, and am them,
and will be them, for I do and walk
yet it doesn't feel like it can ever
fit inside me.

Because fear, desperation, and
sadness are more than universal-
maybe they formed shards of our
heart we've seen reflections in
too often.

Darkness will fall upon us,
around and within, beneath
shadows, over silhouettes...
it still can be felt even if we
close our eyes.

The night will fall, but to
believe it's the end is to lose
faith in creation itself.

Wow, this is beautiful. It is very mixed emotions between darkness and light and it has a hint of edging towards the darkness until the end the light shines a bit brighter, like you will not give up because then you give up on everything.

    Lovely poem.

Hi MaryAnne, it was so lovely to get a comment from you. I'm doing ok, thank you.

This is different and very well put together. It really speaks to the readers heart. It touched me quiet a bit after writing my recent poem. You spoke from deep within with this one. I'll be sure to check in more often.

    Take. Care.

Now Maryanne, this is what I call poetry!
The emotion was totally spot on, there was enough of it, yet it didn't suffocate the piece and the flow was smooth and sombre, it was beautifully penned and I like Abed, think this is one of the best I have read, it is amazingly crafted...

    Beautiful work.

Thanks for making my eyes teary.
I read this while listening to a sad song, and I was moved like a thousand miles away.

    This is beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.

One of the best poems I've read on this site. To my favorites now :)

It just shows your faithful side, MaryAnne.
    And I am also faithful.
I believe that there is an end. But what's beyond the end is what's prettier than this present.

OMG. I'll never get over this.

You are MARVELOUS, in all aspects.
